Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026
Authentic Nostalgia Media Corp. ("Authentic Nostalgia", "we", "us") is based in British Columbia and follows BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. What we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, shipping address | When you book | To ship the camcorder, send your confirmation and tracking, and deliver your recap |
| Event type and date, rental length | When you book | To schedule and prepare your rental |
| Payment details | At checkout, collected by Stripe | To take payment and, as the Rental Agreement allows, charge late, damage or loss fees. We never see your full card number |
| Messages you send us | Through the contact form or email | To reply to you |
| Footage recorded on our camcorder | When the camcorder comes back | To edit your recap and deliver your files (see section 4) |
| Basic technical data (like browser type and pages visited) | When you use the Site | To keep the Site working and secure |
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for anything unrelated to the reasons above without asking you first.
2. Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the business, and only what they need:
- Stripe processes payments.
- Resend sends our emails (booking confirmations, tracking, replies).
- Vercel hosts the Site.
- Shipping carriers get your name and address to deliver and return the camcorder.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives information about your visit through the Meta Pixel (see section 7), so we can measure and improve our ads.
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
3. How long we keep it
- Booking and payment records: as long as we need them for accounting and tax (generally 7 years).
- Contact-form messages: up to 2 years.
- Raw footage and editing files: deleted 12 months after we deliver your recap.
- Recaps: we keep a copy for 12 months after delivery so you can re-download it, then delete it, unless you've given us permission to use clips in our marketing.
4. Footage
Footage often shows your guests, not just you. We only use it to make and deliver your recap and files. Our editors can see it while working on your recap. We only use clips in our marketing if you opt in, and we'll remove anyone who appears in footage if they ask us to. Please let your guests know a camcorder is being passed around.
5. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it's been used,
- correct information that's wrong,
- delete your information (we may need to keep some records for legal or accounting reasons), or
- withdraw consent to marketing use of your footage.
Email bookings@authenticnostalgia.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
6. Security
We use reputable providers with encryption in transit and access controls, and limit who on our team can access personal information and footage. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notify you and the regulator as the law requires.
7. Cookies and ad measurement
The Site uses cookies and similar storage to work, for example remembering your booking answers if you return from checkout.
We also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), to measure how well our ads work and to show our ads to people likely to be interested. It tells Meta which pages you visit on the Site and when you start checkout, send us a message, or complete a booking (with the booking's total). It does not send Meta your payment details. Meta may combine this with information it already has about you, under Meta's own privacy policy.
You can control how Meta uses this for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences, or block it with your browser's privacy settings or a tracker-blocking extension. The Site works the same either way.
8. Changes and contact
We'll post any updates here with a new effective date. Questions or complaints: bookings@authenticnostalgia.com · 136 W King Edward Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Y 2H9. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
